About Global Fusion

Global Fusion is a 12-month expedition beginning May 2004, that explores the world’s attitudes, values, and behaviors in relationship to cultural identity. During the year we will experience different places and interact with different people – artists, writers, musicians and locals – to learn more about different cultures. We will share our experiences in a bi-monthly electronic journal packed with essays, interviews, photography, and visual art created in real time, on-the-road reporting.

Global Fusion is working to increase awareness, to spread goodwill, and to facilitate discussion among different people, celebrating the world’s cultures through the artistic medium of visual and written art forms.

Your envoys for this adventure are Silicon Valley digital artist Lyn Bishop and Japanese journalist Taro Tsuzuki. The two will capture images and impressions in this unique inquiry of cultural identity across the globe.

"Global Fusion is founded on the belief that when we understand each other through experiences, we are better prepared to create a world based on tolerance and peace," says Tsuzuki.

"The arts allow society to participate in positive social reconstruction, making artists themselves catalysts for positive change," adds Bishop.

Born in Japan, Tsuzuki has lived in America for the past 25 years. As writer, he has published his cross-cultural essays in the Japanese lifestyle magazines Balance and Road Song. His popular self-published website introduces Japanese readers to his original essays discussing culture, music and art.

Bishop's background has prepared her for such an adventure. She has spent the last six years working with elements of culture as inspiration for her art. Her past projects A Digital Artist: on the Road in China, and A Veil in Time: Nepal have earned her praise and awards. She's been featured on CNN, USA Today, and in other publications. Her artwork is exhibited in Asia, Africa, Europe and the U.S.
